When you dance, you let go, you’re not in your head thinking or worrying about a million different things. Be free and explore the art form, you never know where a dance can take you.
  1. Bath time! – When was the last time you had a luxurious bubble bath? Exactly! It’s time to bust out the lavender scented candles and Enya album. Adding Epsom salts will heighten the harmony of your bath experience. Epsom salts help to reduce stress, soothe muscles, and soften skin. They also provide essential elements (magnesium and sulfate) our bodies need to function properly.
  1. “Hum”Mediation offers so many benefits! For one, it increases serotonin levels which will involuntarily put you in a better mood. Mediating daily helps to keep your emotional levels checked and balanced. It also boosts creativity and productivity. After mediation, you will stress less and sleep well.
  1. “Laughter is the best medicine” – Plan a movie night with all your favorite flicks! Be a couch potato and order some take out or pop some popcorn. Allow yourself to escape into the many cinematic worlds. Some movies are so dear to our hearts because they give us a warm fuzzy feeling or make us think about another time or place. We have different associations with different movies; find the one that puts a smile on your face.
  1. Get your creative juices flowing! – Explore the artist in you. Express yourself through artistic mediums, like drawing, painting, or writing. These peaceful activities will help to clear your mind by distraction.
  1. Plan a staycation! – You need a vacation but you don’t need the stress of traveling. Solution, make your home an all-inclusive resort! Get your bathing suit on and hang by the pool. Or make yourself a fabulous frozen non-alcoholic drink and pretend you’re at a 4 star hotel. Grab a good book or magazine and just unwind. This is your time to break free from your normal daily routine.
  1. Pamper up! – Give your body some tender loving care with a spa day. Massages will make you feel rejuvenated and re-energized. Massage therapy will lower your depression and anxiety levels. It also improves circulation and sleep quality. After your massage, get a facial or a fancy manicure!
  1. Get a green thumb! – Gardening is a great way to get out of the house. It allows us to reconnect with the natural world. Surround your outdoor space with beauty and serenity. The fresh air and sunshine will revitalize your spirit and amp up your vitamin D intake.
  1. Call the girls! – Therapeutic girl talk is a must! Sometimes you just need to vent and talk it out with your best buds. Plan a lunch date and let your hair down. Release your thoughts instead of bottling them up inside.
  1. Take a walk! – Hit the park or walk leisurely around your neighborhood. Walking is a great stress management activity because it allows you to think clearly and reconnect with yourself. Observe your surroundings and appreciate the beauty in all things. Not only are you burning calories, your burning stress!

    I love gardening and taking walks (when my feet and legs aren’t too tired!). The bubble bath idea also sounds great as long as it’s not too warm!
