Do you crave Chocolate? That may be a really good thing. Eating Chocolate not only elevates your mood and  makes you happy, but may also play a role in helping reduce the risk of Preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication where the woman’s blood pressure becomes abnormally high and there is a high level of protein in the urine. Eating chocolate can prevent this life-threatening condition because it has a chemical component named Theobromine. This is responsible for relaxing  smooth muscles of the body and facilitates the dilation of blood vessels.  Ask your doctor to talk to you about Preeclampsia and the risk associated.

In addition, chocolate may also have long-lasting results for your baby. Research suggests that women who indulged in eating chocolate throughout their pregnancy are said to have happier babies. So, if you needed an excuse to indulge in chocolate this weekend.  Making a happier baby seems like a great reason to have a little more than usual.  Remember chocolate contains caffeine and eat smart, healthy, and in moderation.
