  1. Visit your OB/GYN.
  2. Begin Prenatal Vitamins.
  3. Call your insurance company to find out what’s covered and what’s not.
  4. Do research on alternative and holistic approaches to prenatal care and birthing.
  5. Eat healthy and learn which foods help you and your baby, and which to stay away from.
  6. Begin an exercise program with a trainer certified in pre-natal fitness. (Get OB/GYN clearance).
  7. If you smoke, quit it.
  8. If you drink alcohol. stop it.
  9. Enjoy yourself and share the news.

    I wouldn’t have thought about checking insurance. A very valid point. You could add one more thing to do; join http://howcanugetpregnant.org then you’d be able to keep abreast of the latest news, get personal advice and learn more about pregnancy and parenthood.

    11. Find a GREAT childbirth class, call the instructor to find out if your style matches hers.

    12. Register for a prenatal breastfeeding class AND read a breastfeeding book (a must! – avoid all the common pitfals to breastfeeding)

    13. Find a delivery hospital that is ‘Baby Friendly’ you’ll be glad you did, or check into midwifery care.

    14. Surround yourself with birthing, breastfeeding, baby loving friends. Just say NO to horrow stories! :)
