Heres something undoubtedly true… If you made a list of all the things to be grateful for they would certainly out weigh your misfortunes. In it of itself, life is a precious gift. The ability to feel, hear, or touch is a gift. Even amongst the most challenging times, there’s always something to be thankful for. For those struggling at this moment in time, please be kind to yourself. Pause and be still. Close your eyes. What do you feel? Take a few minutes to calm your soul, then let your thoughts ebb and flow until the stillness lets you feel your breath. Enjoy the empty silence. You are in good company!
Emotional pain can be hard during the holidays but know that you are not alone. So many people including myself tend to get down and a tad nostalgic. I wish this weren’t the case. But for me, it just is. I’ve accepted the fact that I’m the type of woman who gets sad during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve and the big birthday. Acknowledging, without shame, that holidays kick my ass helps me to prepare my spiritual healing toolbox. I will run toward pleasure and feel the pain. You’ve got to feel it to heal it but do let it take you down. The soul is more powerful than your feelings. Everyone has the ability to turn things around. It’s a choice. You can start your day over at any given moment.
Life is too short. Ask yourself, how do I want to live? Do I want to be happy? What is happy? What do I need to do to become happy? What do I need to give up to be happy? Nothing in life is easy. One thing for sure is you have the power to change the things in your life that no longer serve you.
Starting off with a gratitude list will take anyone out of their funk. Just the fact that you’re reading this is a gift and have made it this far is impressive. Thank yourself for having the courage to read these words and listen. It’s about small baby steps. Wake up everyday and do the next right thing. Yesterday is gone. As a matter a fact last second is gone. You can’t change that. One thing you can do is have the courage to face your challenges and take steps in the right direction.
What ever you may be going through, you don’t have to be alone. Feel free to comment, I will take the time to listen and respond to each and every person.
I, Liza Elliott-Ramirez, write this article for you in the name of love, light and hopefulness. As crazy as this may sound, I care. Even if I don’t know you. By helping others brings me so much joy. It fills my spirit with cheer!
Take a moment and take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Smile, say I love you and I forgive you. I promise to take better care of you. Do this over and over until it’s your reality.
I wish the world a Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. Make sure you tell at least one person a day that you love them and care. Often times we need to be loved before you can love yourself. Here’s the good news, you’re worth it and YOU matter!
Be of good cheer!
