Unfortunately, most new moms are so busy taking care of everything and everyone else that they have little or no time to take care of themselves. Although it may seem nearly impossible to find some balance in your hectic schedule, the best thing you can do is learn how to maintain proper health and give yourself time to revive and rejuvenate. By fulfilling your needs and putting yourself first, your baby will benefit and maintain health and stability as well.

pregnancy diet

Practicing proper health means eating right and listening to your body. Eat a balanced diet that consists of fruits, vegetables, and food items that contain plentiful calcium, iron and protein. Stay away from undercooked meat and eggs and minimize caffeine intake. Doctors recommend that women take 1,000 mcg of folic acid every day during pregnancy. Do not undermine the importance of working out and make time to incorporate at least 30 minutes of exercise into your daily schedule.

pregnancy stress

Stress is an inevitable factor that accompanies your journey to motherhood. As you prepare to give birth, practice finding peace of mind by allowing yourself to take a break and make some time to yourself. Ask your partner to help you perform everyday tasks and don’t be afraid to reach out to your family. Prioritize your responsibilities and set some time apart to think and focus on your needs and wants.

Stress at the pregnant woman

The key to dealing with your emotions is to expect, express and accept your feelings. Expect yourself to experience some degree of mood-swings but also understand that you have to control your emotions before they control you. If you are unhappy or unsatisfied with a situation, express your concerns in a respectful manner. Accept that your feelings are normal and you’re not the only one who has gone through it. Writing in a journal is a great method that allows you to relax and help you express your emotions.
